Welcome to Travel Adventures!

I am Shane and I love travelling with my wife Colleen and sharing our adventures. I will be retiring at the end of the year and will then be able to travel more often both locally and internationally. Working never stopped us travelling and we visited Ecuador, Australia, and Ireland last year. We also went on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We have lived in three countries and regret not travelling enough in the countries that we no longer call home. We live in California now and intend exploring California extensively in addition to exploring the rest of the USA.
I am a passionate fisherman and will always take the opportunity of casting in a line and some of our trips are built around my desire to catch a bucket list fish species. My family teases me that I am not a very good fisherman and seldom catch any great fish, however I enjoy the places I fish and simply being out in nature is all the thrill I need.
The older we get the more we seem to include adventure activities in our travels and are always looking for new experiences that we can manage physically. We ziplined, bridge jumped, floated down a raging river on tubes lashed together and went white water rafting in Ecuador.
We love nature and enjoy chasing waterfalls and being in forests surrounded by giant trees. A recent highlight was experiencing the Amazon rainforest and encountering the elusive pink freshwater dolphins. We also saw sloths, monkeys, birds, insects and beautiful sunsets. You may see pictures of random sunsets and unusual cloud formations.
You may read about exotic local food that I actively seek out (much to Colleen's disgust). I have recently eaten live palm grubs, frogs legs, bison tenderloin, elk T-bone and rocky mountain oysters.
Travel Adventures is more than a travel blog - it is a place for stories, practical travel tips and reflections on life. Along the way, I will share insights on retirement and a some appropriate inspirational quotes.
Whether you an experienced traveler, have never traveled, a retiree looking for inspiration or someone who loves an adventure story, I hope you will find something that sparks your wanderlust and encourages you to embrace life's possibilities.
